Bio:

Senator Patty Schachtner is serving her first term in the Wisconsin State Senate following a special election in January 2018. Patty was born in Somerset, Wisconsin, and was raised on a St. Croix County dairy farm. She attended Somerset public schools and then obtained her Emergency Medical Technician Basic certificate. She also worked as a healthcare provider for the Somerset School District.

Patty, in addition to her job as state senator, now serves as the chief medical examiner for St. Croix County. Patty has also previously served as a school board member, supervisor for the Star Prairie township, and EMT instructor at the Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College, where she received her EMT certification. In the community, Patty sits on the board of directors for Turning Point Wisconsin, a center for victims of sexual and domestic violence, and on the board of her local food pantry. She is a co-founder of the Suicide Prevention Task Force of St. Croix County and a former small business owner as well as the former director of the Greater Stillwater Chamber of Commerce. Patty has a wealth of career experience after her many years of public service in a variety of occupations.
