The familiar story of a princess being saved by a handsome prince takes on new life in Karen Boettcher-Tate’s adaptation of the story. Instead of the old-fashioned fairy tale theme of a princess waiting for a handsome, brave, and strong prince to come to her rescue, this version of “Rapunzel” focuses on the more contemporary idea that everyone has potential, and a feisty princess can help rescue herself.
Director, Karen Biedermann, is excited to be back at The Phipps and working with the Children’s Theater, “This script puts such a fun twist on the classic Rapunzel tale we all know and love. It has given us such a great opportunity for us to work with the cast on character development and making big, bold choices. I am so proud of these talented young artists, and am so excited to see their hard work pay off!” Karen directs a cast of 22 talented area actors in grades 7-9.
