The Bookish Buzz with author Joshua Shores

Join us for The Bookish Buzz, an informal gathering of book lovers for conversation centered on an author, book, or theme. Hosted by Chapter2 Books at Black Rooster Bistro; we bring together authors or community partners for fun conversations inspired by books while enjoying the ambience and excellent hand-crafted cocktails and curated spirits of Black Rooster Bistro. 

We are honored to welcome Marine Infantry combat veteran, Joshua Shores, a Purple Heart recipient, entrepreneur, and retired firefighter, to our May edition of the Bookish Buzz. 

Joshua served four and a half years in the United States Marine Corps with combat deployments to both Iraq and Afghanistan, including service with the first Marine Special Operations Company Bravo. His time in uniform, marked by intense combat and the deep bonds of brotherhood, shaped the foundation for his debut memoir, Counting on Death: A Marine Infantryman's Journey from the Front Lines of Combat to the Fight for Peace . Through his writing Joshua aims to help other veterans, young warfighters, and civilians alike better understand the true cost of combat and the lifelong journey of finding peace after war.
