The St. Croix Valley Foundation is seeking a Planned Gift Officer to join our Philanthropic Services team and help grow charitable and legacy giving throughout the St. Croix Valley.
This is a relationship-centered role for someone who enjoys working with donors, professional advisors, nonprofit leaders, and community partners. The Planned Gift Officer will help individuals and families explore charitable giving strategies that reflect what matters most to them while connecting their generosity with opportunities to make a lasting difference in the communities they care about.
What You'll Do
A significant focus of this position is building relationships with professional advisors--including attorneys, financial advisors, CPAs, trust officers, wealth managers, and others who help clients make important financial and estate-planning decisions. You'll serve as a trusted charitable planning resource, helping advisors recognize when philanthropy may be part of the conversation and connecting their clients with the Foundation's charitable expertise, local knowledge, and giving solutions.

You may come to this role from planned giving, fundraising and development, estate planning, financial services, wealth management, philanthropic advising, nonprofit development, or a related field. We value relevant experience and relationships as much as a particular career path.

The Details
This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Vice President of Philanthropy. The position is based at the Foundation's office in Hudson, Wisconsin, with a hybrid work arrangement.
The role includes regular travel throughout the St. Croix Valley and occasional evening and weekend meetings and events.
Compensation: The anticipated salary range for this position is $75,000 - $80,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated expertise. The Foundation offers a competitive benefits package including medical and dental insurance, paid time off, a 403b plan and company match, flexible schedules, and hybrid work options.

You'll serve as a trusted charitable planning resource, helping advisors recognize when philanthropy may be part of the conversation and connecting their clients with the Foundation's charitable expertise, local knowledge, and giving solutions.
You'll also:
- Build relationships with prospective and current legacy donors and help them explore charitable giving opportunities that align with their values and goals.
- Develop and manage a pipeline of legacy giving opportunities, from initial conversations through documented commitments and ongoing stewardship.
- Help donors explore giving options such as bequests, beneficiary designations, retirement assets, donor advised funds, endowed funds, charitable trusts, and gifts of non-cash or complex assets.
- Grow and steward the Foundation's Living Legacy Society, recognizing individuals and families who have included charitable giving in their future plans.
- Partner with nonprofit organizations throughout the St. Croix Valley to strengthen their endowments, legacy giving strategies, and long-term philanthropic support.
- Provide education and resources to donors, professional advisors, nonprofit partners, and colleagues about legacy giving and charitable planning.
- Collaborate with Foundation staff, board members, affiliate leaders, volunteers, and community partners to deepen relationships and create new philanthropic opportunities.

You may come to this role from planned giving, fundraising and development, estate planning, financial services, wealth management, philanthropic advising, nonprofit development, or a related field. We value relevant experience and relationships as much as a particular career path.
Strong candidates will bring:
- At least five years of relevant professional experience.
- A demonstrated ability to develop trusted relationships with donors, professional advisors, nonprofit leaders, and community partners.
- Working knowledge of charitable and legacy giving strategies.
- The ability to listen carefully and understand a donor's values, motivations, family considerations, and philanthropic goals.
- Experience managing relationships and moving opportunities from initial conversation through cultivation, commitment, and stewardship.
- Strong interpersonal, written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- The ability to work independently while being an engaged member of a small, collaborative team.
- Comfort using CRM systems and technology to manage relationships, opportunities, and follow-up.
